Trip to the Zoo

This day was a fun one. Vero drove us in to London, near Primrose Park, where Vero and Jake used to live. We spent a few hours enjoying the London Zoo and then picked up a few things for dinner before heading home. Really fun day!
Sam, Vero ("Tata"), and Jake ("Jek")

These were beautiful woods on our way into London.

Sam got a hold of some chocolate somehow... still cute, eh?

This animal looked like it jumped out of a fairytale. It's called an Okapi.
Find out more about this giraffe relative here.

This was an incredible habitat for primates.
Sloth in the middle of the pic behind the trunk.
An hour's drive, over $100 to see the zoo, and then Niko decided to take a nap!

Lemurs!
Sea Otters
Niko finally woke up!

Les flamants roses (Flamingos)
Eastern White Pelicans

I don't know if these were the spider monkey and the picture is very dark, but these guys climbed with both hands and feet and then also their tails. It was like their tail had fingers on the end of it - it was that key an appendage! Cool to watch.
Trying to see the lions

This is the entrance to the butterfly exhibit
(it's supposed to look like the head of a caterpillar)
Entering the butterfly exhibit
This picture really doesn't do it justice, so check out the short videos at the end of this entrty.
This showed butterflies in various stages of development.
The one almost out is a Madagascar moth. So cool!
I had to take a picture of the llamas for my friend, Kates. Thinking of you! :)
Niko is sitting on a bronze mommy gorilla nursing her little baby gorilla. :)
Les gorilles! Gorillas!

Primrose Park

A cool bridge on our drive home
This is one of our favorite stretches outside Dorking. We just couldn't get enough of the towering trees, cut out just enough for traffic to get through.
This is us trying to keep Sam awake when we were so close to home.
He still slept through the torture!
These are the butterfly exhibit videos. It still doesn't nearly show you, but it was so cool to have hundreds of butterflies flying all around us. At the exit, they even have a mirror so you can check yourself and make sure you don't have butterflies on you.
So fun for Niko... "papillon!" ("butterfly!")
