2008 In Review

For anyone who might be interested, I thought I'd report back about my New Year's Resolutions form 2008.

1) Make progress in personal family history (learn Adobe Photoshop, digitally scrapbook at least one page spread per month, keep blog updated).

I took a class with my sister-in-law, Angi, where we learned many of the basics of Photoshop. I also was able to hire my sister, Amber, to give me some one-on-one training and get personal feedback on projects and challenges as I learned. I fell way behind on the month coverage, but managed to catch up to September by tonight (see plethora of pictures below). I also realized that only on spread per month wasn't enough, so enjoy the better coverage. [If you click on the picture, it will enlarge enough to read and see all the pictures.] I tried to keep our blog updated and I think I averaged about every week or two. It was a good exercise for me to use it as a tool to share stories and pictures with family and friends. I plan to continue.

2) Train for the Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay 2008 (consistent training schedule, bed by 10pm, up by 6am to exercise).

I completed the Provo River 10-miler in preparation for the WBR in June. I loved the experience of doing the relay in a van full of other first-timers. We all got along really well and survived with flying colors. Our team ranked 65th out of 545 teams, so we were pleased. I felt so great afterward, I wanted to work towards a marathon. That will be part of this year's goals, since the night after the relay, I found out I was pregnant and quit the workouts. I had mild success with the go to bed and wake up times. I hope to do better with that as well this year... after Matt sleep trains?

3) Keep up a realistic yet vigorous schedule (responsibilities chart, meal-planning chart, activity schedule, etc.)

This will also be something I continue to work on this year. :)

In short, I'm pleased with progress made this year and I'm looking forward to another year of growing and improving. Stay tuned for 2009 goals!

Trois Petits Souris (Three Little Mice)

Disclaimer #1: as biased parents, we think this video is very cute. We love playing with our boys and it was fun to see them enjoy this little finger puppet so much. It may be boring for the rest of you.

Disclaimer #2: Chris and I have decided to become mean parents. We are going to try and keep the camera rolling from now on, even when it seems heartless to do so. Usually, things turn out alright and when we shut off the video, we miss the humor after the fact. At the end of this video, for example, Chris is torturing Niko with the mice and right when Niko is in hysterics, I turn it off. Immediately after the camera was off, Niko broke into gut-splitting laughter. He really did love it, I promise. Anyway, enjoy.

Bliss

Angi took this great picture of Niko and Sam when we were all sledding on Christmas Eve/Marc's Birthday. The boys could have stayed another hour if the sun hadn't gone down. They just loved the snow and the speed. Can we say, "Papa's boys"?

Joyeux Noel

Santa came!

This lovely gift from Marc and Angi for the
boys stole the show when they came into the room.

Sunny Bunny :)

Our stockings were hung on the window away from little hands...

Sunny's favorite spot

Niko was thrilled with the little stockings that
finally came down from the window after breakfast.

Bon bons!

Still learning to remove wrapper first.

Sam loved all the chocolate.

Niko insisted on wearing the little stockings
for the boys. Complete outfit with the Santa hat.
We had a very relaxed day at home. It was nice to just spend time together. In the evening, we enjoyed dinner at Pat's house and time with Pelissie family. What a merry Christmas!
