This kid is somethin' else. In the last month, he has burned his palms on our door (almost completely healed now), wobbled off balance and fell head first onto the corner of an exterior window (bruise almost gone from the right side of his forehead), been pushed onto the cement patio by Niko (mark to the right of his nose), had his finger smashed in a hinge by Niko (the nail has almost totally fallen off), and been pulled or pushed over dozens of times by his "affectionate" brother. Do we see a pattern here? Well, he finally did something today all on his own that resulted in a trip to the emergency room. We're not sure what he was doing, but we found him on his back in the kitchen next to the kids' table with a small gash above his eye. Of course, he decided to do this on a Saturday morning, so after consulting with our after hours doctor, we went to the ER at Timpanogos Regional Hospital. I was glad that Gigi could keep Niko. Honestly, it was the best ER experience I have ever had. Everyone was kind and helpful and prompt at every turn. They glued the cut so that it will heal better, but didn't need stitches. It's a purple color, so it looks a little like he has a black eye, but I was very pleased. I was in and out of the ER in less than 45 minutes.
That has never happened to me before! Big fan of Timp Regional!
He was in the middle of blinking, but isn't this the perfect expression?

Cleanly treated :)
Wow- So sad!
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest: it's hard keeping little boys alive. Elliott is so "casse-cou" that we've probably swooped down a handful of times at the last possible second before he broke something. Be it on stairs, around bodies of water (that he calls "bains"; incidentally, if he had it his way, baths would be taken while running and jumping in the tub), or in the apartment, he has given us some scares.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. We love your posts.
my goodness! I hope I have little girls....haha. I wouldn't put the "affectionate" behavior down to boys though, I guess. I was just as bad. I remember.
ReplyDeleteGood thing Sammy has a sense of humor and sweetness. He's a trooper. And you have nerves of steel.
SAM BE CAREFUL! We want you to live past 2. He must be preparing to be a warrior or something, you know one that will need to be able to take a few hits.
