Chris made a funny...

The following is an excerpt from my journal this evening. Hope you chuckle a little, too:

Another funny thing happened one morning this week (or perhaps last). Sam usually wakes up at about 6am to have a bottle and/or breastfeed and then goes back to sleep for another hour or two. On this particular morning, I woke up when I heard Sam crying. I noticed that Chris made an effort to be supportive by sitting up in bed and then, too exhausted, laid down on my side of the bed with his arm outstretched towards the door in a vain attempt to help me in some way. I went downstairs, got Sam from his bed, made him a bottle, and carried him cradled in my arms upstairs with me, as is our habit. As I made my way up the stairs, I realized I had an urgent need to us the bathroom. I walked in our room to find Chris in the same position he had been when I left, sprawled on my side of the bed. I gently said, “Honey? I need to pee really badly. Can you hold Sam’s bottle for a second?” He quickly lifted his head and said, “Huh? Oh, ok. I just need to go pee first.” He sat all the way up with his legs off of his side of the bed, but then started feeling underneath the covers as if he were looking for something. In my urgency, I pressed him, “What are you looking for?” His reply, “I lost the remote!” My response, “Honey? Are you awake?” Pause. “I am now.” I started laughing so hard, I really did worry about almost wetting myself, but you’ll be glad to know there were no accidents. J I laughed the entire time Chris went to the bathroom and then I was finally able to relieve myself. I’m actually still chuckling about it now as I write this. I just HAD to record that for posterity!
