Happy 4th!

Chris and I decided to run in the Freedom Run 10k this year. Amber and Dustin kept Matt and we took Sam and Niko in the Bob with us. We had a really good time. My favorite part was being out there together - we never exercise together - and my next favorite part was being able to talk the whole way. We talked about all kinds of stuff and had ideas and connections occur to us while we talked that I don't think we would have recognized otherwise. There is something special about inspiration that comes in the morning hours and also inspiration that comes when you're doing something physical, like exercising. I loved it. My least favorite part was running on the parade route, where hundreds of people had already gathered for the parade. It was fun to wave hello to a few friends from the ward, but I hope I never again have to run in front of so many spectators. :)

The rest of our day was very relaxed at home. We enjoyed having Daniel, James, the Uncles, Clines, and Pat join us for a BBQ dinner.

Chris and I sat out on the lawn across the street from our house for a few minutes watching fireworks from a distance. Again, I loved the treat of quiet, the night sky, and hubby's company.

We enjoyed our 4th of July celebrations, but we decided that next year, we want to take the boys to an early morning flag ceremony instead of the run. There are plenty of races in which to participate throughout the summer, but only one Independence Day. Love live the USA!
