Practice at my favorite place

A couple weeks ago, I reveled in driving to and from the Ranch on a day when there were storms rolling in. This is Heber Valley with one of those on its way in.

The Ranch is my favorite place on earth. It holds so much of my childhood, my views of how good the world can be, and a few sorrows of family discord and the poison of grudges. I've always wanted to take the Ranch with me for the bulk of my life when I couldn't be there. Now I am able to capture it in some degree with my new camera. :) On Thursday of this last week, I was able to take some time to take more pictures while up at the Ranch. I did all of the following photos with all manual settings, as opposed to the automatic settings I've been using most of the time prior to Dustin's photog lesson earlier this week.

I love this one.

Joranelle was so blue!

  1. beautiful work, genn! Those images look much better here than when i looked at them on the laptop in facebook... how do they look to you compared to how you see them in iphoto? i'm having trouble uploading pictures and having them look as good as they should.

I'll show dustin. I am very impressed. :)

  2. Yeah, they are definitely not as sharp on the blog as in iphoto. Maybe I should post them in the "large" size instead of "medium."

  3. I've thought about that too - I copied a pic from Amber's blog that came out larger than what I normally post and it looked really great.

Also, these are so beautiful! A treasure for all of us, I think. I love the pics! And the horses, and the landscape, etc. Good work!
